Tell Me A Tale in Turkey 

Tell Me A Tale in Turkey was a 14-week project where Tell Me A Tale ran two-week drama residences in two special needs centres, four schools and one orphanage in Turkey.  The project took place from September-December 2011 and went to the following institutions:

Ortaca Coşku Special Needs and Rehabilitation Centre (Ortaca, Muğla)

Alanya Gamze Special Needs and Rehabilitation Centre (Konaklı, Antalya)

Ekinözü government boarding school (Ekinözü, Kahramanmaraş)

Koca Tepe Primary School (Midyat, Mardin)

Diyarbakır Girls Orphanage (Diyarbakır)

Sivas Milli Piyango Secondary School (Sivas)

Altınpinar Primary School (Altınpinar, Gümüşhane)

Drama is an inclusive activity that enables individuals the chance to practice the social skills of co-operation, trust, self-control and problem solving.  Children in remote communities do not have access to the same education to those in cities and this project will enable children to gain confidence through exercises that do not rely on literacy or verbal fluency, whilst providing opportunity to work on these skills.  Doing a performance at the end of the two weeks will give communities a sense of belonging and participants the chance to feel ownership of the work they have created.

Project Outcomes: 

Special Needs Schools

  • To demonstrate the importance of Sensory stimuli for children with special needs.
  • To train the teachers in the school about Sensory Theatre and how it can be included in the school curriculum.
  • To create a Sensory Theatre production with students ending in  a performance for the  local community.
  • To promote the inclusion of children with special needs to the local community.

Other Schools 

  • To facilitate drama activities focusing on developing the confidence of children in disadvantaged communities.
  • To explore folktales focusing on expanding young imaginations.
  • Using improvisation as a tool for self expression and developing self confidence.
  • To create a theatre production with students ending in a performance for the  local community.

Tell Me A Tale Türkiye’de
Tell Me A Tale (Bir Öykü Anlat) Türkiye’de Eylül 2011’de başlayacak ve 14 hafta sürecek programıyla yedi adet dezavantajlı okulda (iki özel eğitim okul, iki ilk okul, iki orta okul ve bir öksüzler yurdunda) ikişer haftalık drama atölye çalışmaları uygulayacaktır.  Bireylere işbirliği özgüven, özdenetim ve problem çözme becerileri kazandıran drama kapsamlı çok yönlü bir faaliyettir.  Toplumdan uzak olan çocuklar, şehirlerdeki çocuklar ile aynı eğitimi alma imkanına sahip değillerdir.  Projemiz, egzersizlerle, okuma yazma kullanmadan veya konusma akıcılığı gerektirmeden, çocukların bu becerilerini arttırarak özgüven geliştirmelerini sağlayacaktır.  İki haftalık atölye çalışmalarının sonunda çocuklar çevrelerindeki kişiler için bir gösteri yapacaktır.  Böylece onlar da bu deneyimin bir parçasi olacaktır.
Programın sürdürülebilirliğini sağlamak için, proje süresince Tell Me A Tale güncel öğretim programlarinda drama faaliyetlerınden nasil yaralanılmasını öğretmenlere gösterecektir.

 

Proje Sonuçlari: 

Özel Eğitim Okullari

  • Özel ilgiye gereksinim duyan çocuklarda duyusal uyarıcıliğinin önemini vurgulamak.
  • Duyusal Tiyatro hakkında ögretmenleri okullarda eğitip, öğretim programına nasil katkı sağlayacağını anlatmak.
  • Öğrencilerle çevrelerindeki kişiler için bir Duyusal Tiyatro sahneye koymak.
  • Özel ilgiye gereksinim duyan çocukların sosyal ortama katılmasını desteklemek.

Genel Okullar 

  • Dezavantajlı topluluklardaki çoçuklarin özgüven gelişimlerine odaklı drama faaliyetleri uygulamak.
  • Öğretmenlere, dramayı öğretim programlarında nasıl kullanacaklarını öğretmek.
  • Okullar ve topluluklarda oluşan gereksinimlere göre sorun temelli drama atölye çalışmaları uygulamak.
  • Eğitimin bitiminde, öğrencilerin bulunduğu yerleşim biriminde bir Tiyatro oyunu sahneye koymak.
